Attachment-Focused Therapy for Couples, Families, Individuals & Parent-Child Dyads What is attachment-focused therapy? Attachment-focused therapy is therapy that approaches healing from a relationship-driven perspective. It is clear that the deepest pain in our lives and our greatest source of comfort comes from our closest relationships. Instead of teaching you skills or delving into your past for hidden answers, attachment-focused therapy uses the present moment - and your key present relationships - to unlock the cycles you may be stuck in, to understand the difficulties you are facing and to heal your relationships. John Bowlby called attachment a 'cradle to grave' phenomenon and therapy is helpful fo parents with infants, families with toddlers to teens, couples struggling with distress, and individuals of all ages. Why engage in therapy? Most everything of value in our life needs periodic tending... our homes, our jobs, our gardens, our cars. This holds true with our relationships. Beginning with the relationships we enter into with our own parents, through to the relationships with our partners and carrying forward to the relationships we forge with our children, our family relationships are at the centre of our lives. As well as the most rewarding aspects of life, relationships can also be the most challenging. We put our hopes, dreams and deepest needs in the hands of those closest to us. It can sometimes be a rocky road. Some of the difficulties are just the natural unfolding of life. Others require - and deserve - the support of a compassionate and knowledgeable therapist.
